J.M. “J” Guarch, Jr.
J. M. Guarch, Jr. is one of the founding members of the firm. He is a Miami native and after obtaining his undergraduate degree from Florida State University, he went to work for Raybestos-Manhattan in Stratford, Connecticut. Thereafter, he worked for Polaroid Corporation. He then continued his studies at Florida State University, where he obtained his juris doctor with honors, and was an Article and Notes Editor of the Florida State University Law Review and law clerk for Dean Talbot D’Alemberte. Upon graduation, he made his way back to Miami, where he began his legal career with Kelley Drye & Warren.
While actively practicing law at the firm, his primary areas of practice were commercial litigation, maritime, real estate and construction law. Although Jorge is no longer active in the day to day practice of law, he remains a member of the firm and a source of knowledge and insight for the active members.
Jorge is a past member of the Board of Governors, Young Lawyers Division of the Florida Bar and the Board of Directors of the Florida State University Seminole Club of Greater Miami. He serves as a Florida Bar/American Bar Association Young Lawyers Division FEMA/Florida Disaster Legal Assistance Volunteer and is a member of the Florida Bar Scope Program. He is an active member of the Rotary Club of Coral Gables, on the Board of Directors for the Miami Children’s Theater, a member of the Board of Directors of the LaSalle High School Alumni Association, and President of the Ocean Reef Angelfish Cay # 5 Condominium Association. He is also a member of the City of Coral Gables Park and Recreation Advisory Board.
